Fox News poll: 60 per cent believe Clinton would lie again; 52 per cent think if Clinton-Lewinsky scandal were a soap opera, it would be cancelled. . . . * House Minority Whip David Bonior, class-warfare veteran, comes under fire in Detroit News for claiming $39,000 condo in "lower-middle-class area" of Michigan district as primary residence; Bonior also owns, as D.C. residence, $318,000 home on scenic bluff overlooking Chesapeake Bay, in community which excludes potential homebuyers who have not "achieved recognized status in a professional field." . . . Sen. Kit Bond (R., Mo.) says U.S. should consider lifting 22-year-old executive order forbidding government agencies such as CIA to assassinate foreign leaders deemed a threat to national security. . . . Melrose Place star Heather Locklear subs for Newt Gingrich, detained in Washington during budget negotiations, at fundraiser for GOP House candidate Randy Hoffman, challenger to first-term Rep. Amnesty International condemns Texas as "conveyor belt of death" for leading nation in executions of convicted criminals. . . . Capital Research Center grades corporations on philanthropic giving. May Department Stores, Freddie Mac, WMX Technologies, and Dayton Hudson receive failing marks for donating heavily to left-wing causes. More than three dollars flow to liberal non-profit groups for every dollar sent rightward, says study. Only Eli Lilly & Co. earns mark of B or higher.
* Nobel Prize for literature, worth $978,000, awarded to Portuguese Communist Party member Jose Saramago. His 1991 book The Gospel According to Jesus Christ was condemned by Catholic Church. Vatican newspaper criticizes "yet another ideologically slanted award." . . . Newly released files show that FBI kept tabs on Groucho Marx, but concluded he wasn't member of Communist Party, contrary to 1953 claim by confidential informant. . . .
