Scott Peterson was convicted for murdering his wife Laci—and for second-degree murder in the case of their unborn son, Conner

National Review, Dec 13, 2004

* Scott Peterson was convicted for murdering his wife Laci--and for second-degree murder in the case of their unborn son, Conner. The fact that Peterson was convicted of a lesser charge in Conner's case appears to reflect the jury's uncertainty about the degree of premeditation in that killing. The fact that he was convicted of anything at all in Conner's case indicates that the moral intuitions of Americans, including even socially liberal Californians, have not quite caught up with the Supreme Court's abortion jurisprudence.

For which we can be thankful.
