Shelf life - Hey Hey? Ho Ho! - books about globalism, synagogue architecture, founding fathers - book review

National Review, Dec 31, 2001 by Michael Potemra

It shows Spider-Man and other superheroes standing in silent reflection at Ground Zero, as they contemplate the work of the human heroes of the police and fire departments. The text is also moving, both patriotic and global in its compassion: "What do we tell the children? Do we tell them evil is a foreign face? No. The evil is the thought behind the face, and it can look just like yours. . . . They knocked down two tall towers. In their memory, draft a covenant with your conscience, that we will create a world in which such things need not occur. . . . Look for [our] reply in the thunder."

In years to come, there will be college courses on "The Literature of September 11"; this marvelous work belongs near the top of the syllabus.
