The Clintons worked up a tsunami of outrage over MSNBC correspondent David Shuster's use of the term "pimped out" in a question about Chelsea's role in her mother's campaign. Reluctant as we are to tempt fate by using the words "Clinton" and "pimp" in close proximity--one never knows exactly what the former president has been up to--it seems to us that this is an egregious episode of media hypocrisy. MSNBC's own Keith Olbermann, the snarling darling of the Democrats, has used the offending participle to describe President Bush's relationship with Gen. David Petraeus: "And in pimping Gen. David Petraeus, sir, in violation of everything this country has been assiduously and vigilantly against for 220 years ..." Senator Clinton rushed in to coddle her daughter, declaring: "I will always be a mom first and a public official second." Surely they're snickering over that statement in Baluchistan. Chelsea is pushing 30: She's a big girl now. Hillary is a big girl too, and should start acting like one if she wants to be commander in chief.
