Ross Douthat, a former NR intern and our current film critic, was tapped to be an op-ed columnist for the New York Times

National Review, April 6, 2009

Ross Douthat, a former NR intern and our current film critic, was tapped to be an op-ed columnist for the New York Times. Douthat has done many other things than write for us in his 29 years--senior editor of The Atlantic, blogger on their website, author most recently (with Reihan Salam) of Grand New Party: How Republicans Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream.

We wish him the best, we expect the best, and we note that, by joining former NR-nik David Brooks, he advances our project of osmotic hegemony (we need some work--David--on mission retention). N.B.: Douthat described himself as "sort of a squishy pro-lifer." That makes him a lot more pro-life than any other conservative employed by the Gray Lady.
