As Kermit the Frog once wisely observed, "It's not easy being green."
National Review, May 17, 2004
* As Kermit the Frog once wisely observed, "It's not easy being green." This may be why John Kerry feigns eco-consciousness while secretly enjoying a gas-guzzling lifestyle. For though he rails against rising gas prices and U.S. dependency on foreign oil, and apparently wants to make a hybrid his "campaign car," Kerry's own garage (and boathouse, and hangar) tell a different story.
The Earth-friendly Kerry family owns eight cars, including two Jeeps and a notoriously gas-needy Chevrolet Suburban. They also have a Harley, two powerboats, a Novurania, and a Gulfstream II private jet. (Does the Sierra Club know this?) We record that Kerry bought his Scaramouche--a 42-foot powerboat with a base price of $695,000--with cold cash. It may not be easy being green, but it sure is nice having green.
