Official transcript Larry King Live, July 29, 2008
National Review, May 19, 2008 by Rob Long
LARRY KING: "Tomorrow night! The whole hour with Bonnie Franklin! From West Memphis, Arkansas, hello!"
CALLER: "Hi, Larry."
LARRY KING: "What's your question?"
CALLER: "I just want to know from Senator Clinton how she's doing with the grieving process."
LARRY KING: "Good question. How about it. How's the healing? Are you there, not there, almost there?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "Obviously, Larry, these things take time. Bill and I were married for a lot of years--"
LARRY KING: "Through rocky times! Rocky! But in the end it was ..."
HILLARY CLINTON: "Well, we had settled in. You know, you reach a certain age, and--"
LARRY KING: "Understood! I'm in the same place myself. From New Paltz, New York, hello!"
CALLER: "Hello, I was wondering if Mrs. Clinton and Senator Obama have ever really talked about that day, and the plane crash and everything?"
LARRY KING: "You guys talk about that?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "Well, yes, Larry, we have shared some of our feelings about the accident. He and Michelle telephoned me just minutes after the news went out about Bill and the plane crash, and they were very kind and supportive and I must say, despite the rancor of the nomination process, neither one of them could have been nicer."
LARRY KING: "Did he ask you to be on the ticket right then?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "That might have been inappropriate."
LARRY KING: "True that! 'Sorry that your husband died in a plane crash on the way to a campaign event! Want to be vice president? 'Awkward!"
HILLARY CLINTON: "Yes, well."
LARRY KING: "From Rapid City! Hello!"
CALLER: "Hi Larry! I'd like to know when Mrs. Clinton found out that the plane Mr. Clinton was on had hit the van that Jeremiah Wright was driving in?"
LARRY KING: "Good question. Was that an hour or so later?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "I'm not sure, Larry. I was still in a state of shock."
LARRY KING: "But you guys made your announcement that night, correct?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "I believe so. When I found out that Reverend Wright had been killed by the plane my husband was flying in, I immediately called Senator Obama to express my condolences."

LARRY KING: "And that's when ...?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "That's when we agreed to run together. Yes. I think that was the timetable."
LARRY KING: "Serendipity! Out of the ashes, etc.! Thursday night! Suzanne Somers! From Concord, California! Hello!"
CALLER: "Hi, Larry. I was wondering if there's ever been an investigation of the events of that day?"
LARRY KING: "Good question. Well? Investigation? FAA and whatnot?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "There was an investigation, Larry, as there always is when a small propeller plane has an accident."
LARRY KING: "What did they find?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "The fuel line was punctured."
LARRY KING: "Hmm. Do they suspect foul play?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "You'd have to ask them, Larry. I'm focusing on the upcoming campaign, and on being a terrific vice president."
LARRY KING: "Great attitude! It's about the future, am I right?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "You're so right, Larry."
LARRY KING: "Still, the day seemed like a twofer, you know?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "I'm not sure I follow you, Larry."
LARRY KING: "Well, you know, let me put this as delicately as possible. At the time of the crash, Bill Clinton wasn't doing you any favors in the getting-elected department."
HILLARY CLINTON: "He was problematic, I'll agree to that."
LARRY KING: "And Jeremiah Wright-man, was he a thorn in the Obama side or what?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "Now that I'm on the ticket, I can see how the media blew that out of proportion."
LARRY KING: "Yeah, but with both of them gone, all of a sudden, in an accident--"
HILLARY CLINTON: "A freak accident, Larry."
LARRY KING: "That's what I'm saying. I mean, what are the odds?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "Seventeen billion four hundred sixty-five million eight hundred fifty thousand to one. So they say."
LARRY KING: "So ya gotta ask ..."
HILLARY CLINTON: "Ask what?"
LARRY KING: "Is this a Strangers on a Train-type deal. Crisscross. A two-birds kind of event. Thoughts?"
HILLARY CLINTON: "I'm focused on the future, Larry. Not on some crackpot conspiracy theories about how a small propeller plane can be sabotaged and then radio-controlled from the ground to hit a moving target that's been planted with a homing device. Or whatever the nuts on the Huffington Post are saying."
LARRY KING: "Arianna Huffington! A dotcom zillionaire!"
HILLARY CLINTON: "She's done quite well for herself."
LARRY KING: "Wolf Blitzer next! And on Larry King Weekend! The cast of High School Musical!"
