Sister Mary Ignatius, Vanessa Redgrave, & Roger Baldwin

National Review, Sept 6, 1985 by Nathan Perlmutter

The columnist wrote his piece--a rather corrosive one--and left me and my views out of it.

Had I been crude? Wanting in sensitivity? Prust? Is a philanthropist's freedom of speech less sanctifed by either the Constitution or common sense than an actress's?

I heard myself thinking, in the tones and cadences of Roger Baldwin, "Why is it that the good guys are always made to feel guilty?'
