Two Family House. - Review - movie review

Interview, Oct, 2000 by Guy Flatley

Directed by Raymond De Felitta

It's 1956, time for Buddy Visalo, a World War II vet whose kvetching wife sabotaged his dream of becoming a crooner, to do something with his life. Like buying a house on Staten Island, renting out the top floor, opening a bar-and-restaurant downstairs, and maybe even taking a lover. The telling of writer-director De Felitta's funny, moving, surprisingly sexy story has been helped immeasurably by Michael Rispoli as the bumbling Buddy and fiery Kelly Macdonald, as an Irish boarder who moves in on the still-kvetching lady of the house in more ways than one.
