Interview, Nov, 2000 by Thelma Adams
Directed by Robert Redford
If you can make golf exciting, bless you. Redford tries for A Birdie Runs Through It in a spiritual fantasy about the zen of golf. Set on the Georgia Coast in the 1930's, the wise, titular caddie (Will Smith) teaches WWI vet Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon) how to swing from the inside out while arm candy (Charlize Theron) looks on adoringly, as beautiful as five under par. Based on Steven Pressfield's novel, which the author calls an updating of the Hindu text, The Bhagavad-Gita. That would make Smith Krishna. Ommm.
