The Aluminum Group. - Review - sound recording review

Interview, Jan-April, 2001 by Dudley Saunders

Pelo (Hefty)

If you're drawn to lounge music by Rat Pack nostalgia, then forget about The Aluminum Group. There's neither camp nor reverence in the old Vegas-tinged chords crowding the Navin brothers' fourth release, but a darkly postmodern mix of tricky acoustic percussions and cutting-edge electronica atmospherics. The Navins turn the glittery cocktail romanticism of the genre into a haunting meditation on the myriad ways eroticism and hope crash into each other, usually to burn.
