Interview, March, 2003 by Susan Johnston
(Columbia)
Directed by Antoine Fuqua
Fresh off his Training Day success, Fuqua offers up Bruce Willis as a U.S. Navy SEAL sent to war-torn Nigeria to rescue a stubborn doctor played by Italian beauty Monica Bellucci (Malena, 2000). The advance word is that Fuqua got Willis to skip the wisecracks and smirks and coaxed a poignant performance out of him--his best perhaps since Pulp Fiction (1994).
