Interview, March, 2003 by Sara Switzer
Now that Kylie--the Australian pop princess whose "la-la-las" made it impossible to get her out of your head--has finally stamped the name Minogue onto the U.S. consciousness, there's another one on the way.
Little sister Dannii, three years Kylie's junior, is hoping to break into the U.S. music scene with the upcoming release of her new album (actually her fourth), Neon Night (London Records).
A former child star, with more recent stints on the stage and as a TV host, Minogue has reinvented her image a few times over, becoming both tabloid fodder and a cult figure on the gay club scene along the way.
"For me, this album is like a whole new beginning," explains Minogue. And with a firm grasp on her '80s influences and kitsch appeal, she's feeling more excited--and nervous--than ever. "Which is good," the singer admits. "I love that. I'm a daredevil."
