Thomas Jane And Olivia D'Abo - Brief Article - Interview

Interview, May, 2000 by Melanie Griffith

LOOK WHAT HOLLYWOOD'S GOT SQUIRRELED AWAY

MELANIE GRIFFITH: I understand you two were photographed with a monkey.

OLIVIA D'ABO: Yeah. We didn't have a pet to bring because our dog, Johnny, died.

MG: Have you worked with animals before?

THOMAS JANE: Only in bed. [all laugh]

MG: So I guess it's a regular pastime.

OD: Tom is an animal. He was a ferret when he first met me. We're really into the pheromone thing. Tom and I were attracted to each other because we both have this forest-creature vibe. We always joke that we're going to run off to the forest.

MG: That's interesting. Antonio [Banderas, Griffith's husband] and I have a thing about the ocean--it's like your safe place. right?

OD: Absolutely. You'll have to come to our wedding. We're thinking of having it in a forest and having everyone come as their favorite animal.

MG: OK. Antonio and I will be the lions. Speaking of Antonio, Tom. he says that working with you on Dancing in the Dark has been wonderful--that you're very creative and imaginative.

TJ: I'm kind of turning pink! [laughs] We're having a blast making the film. We just did a drunk scene together that was wonderful.

MG: I also see here you've in something called Under Suspicion. Olivia, you've done a number of episodes of Party of Five and can be seen soon in It Had to Be You and Texas Funeral. Are you working on anything else?

OD: I'm doing a project for the Internet. It's a cross between animation and live action.

TJ: Olivia is Jonni Nitro, a futuristic spy who blows things up with her body. Talk about typecasting.

MG: You guys sound so cute together.

TJ: Well, we get along great. Since Johnny died, she's my new pet.
