Poppy Montgomery

Interview, August, 2004

"My mother named each of her eight daughters after flowers she found in The Flower Fairy Book. Even at an early age, I knew that I all I wanted to do was act, so at eighteen I moved from my home in Australia to Los Angeles. When I got there, I bought a book called How to Make It in Hollywood and read about this guy who had once been Julia Roberts' manager.

I got his phone number and then I bugged him so much he finally helped introduce me to an agent, who signed me. My break came when I was hired to play Marilyn Monroe in the miniseries Blonde, and then I was cast in Without a Trace. I spend about eighty hours a week on that show, but I love it. Each day I drive onto the Warner Bros. lot I look around and remember that this is where they filmed Casablanca. Living my life on a movie set is pretty special."
