The Chumscrubber

Interview, August, 2005 by Carolyn Murnick

THE CHUMSCRUBBER (Newmarket) Directed by Aria Posin

Arie Posin's surreal debut feature is a dark satire following the lives of four angst-ridden teens and their autopilot parents in the fictional suburban development of Hillside. After the school drug dealer commits suicide, Dean (an excellent Jamie Bell) is forced by the class bully (Justin Chatwin) to steal his dead friend's stash, all the while being overmedicated by his shrink dad (William Fichtner). Carrie-Anne Moss, Glenn Close, and Allison Janney also contribute singular portraits of questionable parenting.
