> These New York City blitzkrieg boppers display a familiarity with the "two R's" of rock--the Replacements and the Ramones--on their debut. With erstwhile Ramone producer Daniel Rey and covers of Johnny Thunders and Hoodoo Gurus songs, even the originals sometimes sound like remakes. But the Spangles transcend mere nostalgia, crafting an album that feels a lot like a Cameron Crowe movie: Beneath the fuzz, they just want to be rock stars.
