Ever wondered what the Beatles would sound like if they picked up where they left off? This Welsh quintet, with their loping art pop, is a good bet. Their fifth album's orchestral wanderings, tubular bass lines, and barbed lyrics beneath a sugary layer of rich Southern California harmonies are innovative at every twist and turn. The only thing missing is the hit singles.
