Young doe who go do, re, mi, fa, so, las, ti, do - singing Hicks sisters - Illustration

Interview, Feb, 1994 by Dimitri Ehrlich

You haven't heard four-part harmony until you've met the Hicks sisters. And lately, Veronica, Taral, D'Atra, and Miriam have been making some especially joyful sounds. Taral has just been signed to Epic Records, where she'll sing hip-hop and R&B with the same sweetness and self-direction she brought to her acting in Robert De Niro's A Bronx Tale.

A more fiery gospel flavor can be heard in the voices of Miriam and D'Atra, who starred together in the Off Broadway production of Mama, I Want to Sing. Veronica, the youngest of the brood at fourteen, is still deciding how she wants to wow the world. Whatever it is, Veronica. you go, girl, because we're ready.
