Just in from Paris: coo-coo-couture! - interviews with fashion designers - Interview

Interview, April, 1997 by Karl Plewka, David Furnish

KP: Do you think we lack a sense of culture today?

GV: No, we have our own culture, but in fashion so often today, unfortunately, it's more and more about trends and photographs in the magazines, and not about creativity. I tried to make my collection very personal, very artisanal, but also very much about lightness and freedom, like today.

KP: I heard a rumor that Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was one muse for your collection. Is this true?

GV: Yes. So was Spain, and Calder, and the women who interest me, and, in general, a way of being.
