On November 21, thousands of people across the country participated in a National Day of Action at Wal-Mart stores. The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union used the day to kick off its People's Campaign--Justice at Wal-Mart.

The nation's largest employer with more than one million U.S. employees, Wal-Mart pays its workers such low wages that health care benefits offered to them are beyond reach. According to the UFCW, two-thirds of Wal-Mart workers can't afford Wal-Mart health insurance because it costs $192 every two weeks. Wal-Mart is also facing a sex discrimination lawsuit, in addition to several lawsuits for allegedly forcing people to work off the clock.
