Ignorance is bliss

President Bush professed ignorance about the renewal of the 1965 Voting Rights Act at a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois asked the President whether he supported extending the Voting Rights Act when it comes up in 2007. "He said he didn't know nothing about it," Jackson said afterward.
The act contains provisions requiring states to ensure equity in voting and expanding the circumstances under which voter discrimination lawsuits can be filed.
