Progressive, The, May, 2000
DeWitt, New York
On March 11, Dick Keough was taken into custody at the New York State Air National Guard base after he entered it by climbing over a barbed wire fence. He was toting a bag labeled "Meds 4 Iraq."
Keough, who is a member of Pax Christi and the Syracuse Peace Council, was joined by about eighty more Central New Yorkers to protest the continued bombing of Iraq.
Two others were arrested along with Keough and charged with third-degree criminal trespass misdemeanors. All three were released later that day from the base.
