Profit over people - No Comment - anti-tobacco lobbyists create Licensed to Kill, Inc as protest - Brief Article

Progressive, The, June, 2003

An article in Corporate Crime Reporter notes that anti-tobacco activists have created a new tobacco company--Licensed to Kill, Inc.--that claims to have an explicit aim of killing people for profit. The company's website (www.licensedtokill.biz) explains: "We're not like other tobacco companies that try to obscure what their business is about.

If you market cigarettes, you market death. It's that simple." The activists formed the company to draw attention to state laws that allow corporations to be formed without regard to their purpose. The new company's slogan: "The beauty of the tobacco business is that people pay us to kill them. That's why our motto is, 'We're Rich. You re Dead!'"
