GMO corn dump - On the Line

Sacramento, California

Activists converged on Sacramento, California, to protest the USDA's "World Conference on Agricultural Science and Technology." Family farmers dumped genetically modified corn outside the conference center. More than 1,000 people marched outside the conference center on June 22, and more than a dozen were arrested.

The U.S. government recently filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization against the European Union. Europe has a de facto moratorium on the introduction of more genetically engineered plants and animals into the food supply. The U.S. government is challenging the European Union to allow such food, and Washington insists that it not be labeled as genetically modified.
