PSA Journal, Oct, 2001 by John Pitt
The Fallon Award acknowledges the recipient's devotion to promoting and sustaining membership in the Photographic Society of America. The recipient is selected by a 5-member committee chaired by the Membership Vice President.
This year's Fallon Award recipient is Richard Whitley. Mr. Whitley joined PSA in 1995 and immediately became involved in many areas of the Society. He soon became a member of the organizing committee that helped guide the Mid-Atlantic Chapter to gain its charter. He has continued to support the chapter in many ways. In September 2001, Dick became Mid-Atlantic Chapter Chairman. Dick's organizational work has greatly helped contribute to PSA's membership.
In 1999 Dick became Region Director in Region 1 and has been a strong and valuable Region Director. As Region Director he contacts all new members in his Region offering his services to help them get the most out of their membership. In the last year he contacted 56 lapsed members and 21 of them renewed their PSA membership. Dick also promotes PSA activities and gives talks throughout his Region that has led to a number of new members. He has works closely with me to develop new ideas on what PSA can do to increase membership.
Dick is a worthy recipient of the Fallon Award.
