PSA Journal, Dec, 2004
This month we introduce readers to another group of Audio/Visual Programs, these are known as the Instructional Slide Sets (ISS) group of 35mm slides show. Suitable for both groups and individual members, this group of ISS may be ordered from Chairman Bob Griffith, APSA, 4801 S. Bella Vista Dr., Veradale WA 99037. (509) 926-5224 or bdgriff@icehouse.net for $5 to rent one, $9 for two, or $12 for three sets.
* #23 Black Magic
Techniques in using ultra violet light in photography are demonstrated in this program. Secrets of UV photography will reveal breathtaking colors and provide a new avenue for your photo efforts. You will learn what equipment to use and where it may be obtained. Several setups from Halloween masks to clock parts are shown that will stimulate your own creative ideas. Even a few mistakes are shown to help illustrate the way to UV perfection. By Ray Rosenhgen, APSA. 54 Slides.
* #29 Abstracts, Novelties and Targets of Opportunity
This set of slides will show how you can create photographs with impact from readily available material. Want to create images of colorful leaves encased in ice'? How about using a portable window frame to add interest to a number of scenics? Have you considered cross lighting a leaf impression in aluminum foil? These are only a few examples of the ideas put forth in this program by William W. Dyer, APSA. 70 Slides.
* #52 Portraiture, Especially Children
This program will lead you through the placement of lights and reflectors for the most complimentary effect on your models. Recommended tones for clothes and backgrounds are discussed. Results of using just 2 lights are illustrated as well as more complex setups using up to 5 lights and, finally, suggestions are made on ways to help relax the subject so you can get that natural look we all strive for. By Esther Slonneger, FPSA. 45 Slides.
