PSA elections in 1999 will cover National Officers. The Nominating Committee has submitted the list of nominees to the Secretary of the Society, Robert B. Deen, FPSA, and it is published in this issue of the PSA Journal in accordance with the Bylaws. All Nominees have agreed to serve, if elected, for two-year terms, taking office at the close of the International Conference at Toronto in September.
The slate was prepared by the Nominating Committee under the chairmanship of Margee Hanson, FPSA. Committee members are: Dan Heidel, FPSA; Jack Covey, FPSA; Beverly Goldey, FPSA; Russel Kriete, Hon. PSA, FPSA; LaVonna Hitz.
Under PSA Bylaws, petition nominations for these offices may be made by members as specified in Article VII, Section 5. Details of such procedure may be obtained from Headquarters.
If the offices are uncontested, the secretary is authorized by the Bylaws to cast the ballot of the entire Society for the slate published here, and the candidates shall thus be elected.
Robert B. Deen Jr., FPSA, Secretary
The nominees are as follows:
President
Albert received a BS and a PhD in Organic Chemistry. At Kodak he was an Analytic Chemist, Lab Supervisor, Corporate Coordinator on the Instant Photographic Program, Director of Strategic Planning, and President of Kodak Japan Ltd. He has served on the PSA Executive Committee as Membership VP and Group Services VP. In addition, he has served as Chairman of the Uniform Practices Advisory Committee and as a Board of Directors member for 14 years. He is active in the Stereo Division, and has served in many other international and local photographic organizations.
Dr. Sieg now serves as PSA's Executive Vice President.
Executive Vice President
Greg first joined PSA as an overseas member in 1954 and rejoined in 1970 in Chicago, upon completing his medical residency. He has been a practicing physician in New York for the past 28 years. He just retired in May 1998. Greg has served as Area Representative, District Representative, Director of PPD Exhibition Standards, Zone Director and as a PSA Board of Directors member for the past 11 years. He received his APSA in 1983, FPSA in 1989 and EPSA in 1997. He is active in the Pictorial Print Division. Currently Greg serves as Chairman of the International Affairs Committee.
Secretary
Marilyn's work background is in insurance as an administrator of private pension plans and writer of amendments for plans with special provisions. Her office skills are used in a variety of volunteer work. She has edited publications of the local camera club council and the PSA Gold Rush Chapter and served as secretary and assistant to the general chairman and program chairman of Foto-Clave, three PSA Regionals and a PSA International Exhibition. Since 1970 she has typed several catalogs for the PSA International Exhibitions sponsored by local camera clubs. She has served as secretary of the PSA Stereo Division and has filled in at PSA Conference meetings as secretary when the secretary was absent. She competes in Stereo and Color in both camera club and the internationals. Marilyn currently is PSA Journal Editorial Assistant, proofreading every issue.
Treasurer
Bailey teaches part time as Professor of Physics, Emeritus of Lake Forest College. As PSA Treasurer he comes with a vast amount of experience having been Provost and Dean of the Faculty of the College. He was in charge of all academic operations including financial planning and budgeting. He was president of a national professional society as well as on a number of governing boards such as Institution of Physics and Advancement of Science. Being a board member of these large organizations involved allocation of expenses and setting budgets priorities. In PSA he has been a District Representative, Program Director for the Pictorial Print Division and Chairman of the Techniques Division.
He is currently the Treasurer.
Chapters Vice President
Following college Jack served as a staff member of a Military Government Civil Affairs unit overseas where he organized and managed the unit. Jack's career in photography and color photolithography involved the sale and production of photographic illustrations in catalogs, magazines and educational reference books. His duties involved customer relations, sales and technical photographic skills. His longtime personal interest in PSA Chapters and the belief that chapters are a major strength of the Society resulted in the chartering of the Wisconsin Chapter in 1992, with Jack serving as its first chairman. He served one term as chairman of PSA's Chapters Committee.
He is currently the Chapters Vice President.
Publications Vice President
Carl has been a member of PSA since 1985. He graduated from Central College and was a math teacher for two years before entering the business world as a manager of recruiting for information systems. In this position he traveled around the U.S. He is a Charter Member of the Wisconsin Chapter and also a member of the North Texas Chapter. He has donated some of his time to being the photographer for his church and the Milwaukee Outreach Center. For PSA, he compiled for seven years the Photojournalism Division Star Ratings. He is on the PJD Honors and Awards Committee. He is commentator for two slide study groups. He has stars in PJ, Color and has Editorial Awards. He has been in the top 25 of the PJD for six years. Currently he is the Photojournalism Division News Editor.
