PSA Journal, Feb, 2004 by Nick Muskovac
Don't use all caps. When you type your article, use regular type, not script, and use upper and lower case letters: It is not necessary to double-space the text or leave wide margins.
If you are sending us your submission through the postal service, please send a clean, unmarked original so that we can scan the material into the computer. Use plain white paper. Type on only one side of the paper, and don't mark corrections on it. You may attach a note or type corrections on a separate piece of paper to draw attention to needed additions or deletions.
Don't send a fax for your original copy. The fax machine is great for last minute needs, but it really slows down the process of getting the Journal into print. Faxes cannot be scanned, so they have to be retyped, as well as edited.
When sending accompanying photos, prints or slides are preferred so that the images can be scanned according to the size at which they will be printed and to ensure that the brightness and color levels are based on the settings our commercial we will know at the time of scanning whether the image needs to be scanned in grayscale or color mode, as that affects the output too.
Please do hot send slides in glass mounts.
If you are planning to send digital images, please contact the PSA Journal Editor for specific requirements. Please meet out deadlines. We have a two-month lead time for scheduled material. If you are submitting an article for a particular issue, your article needs to be in the PSA Journal office at Headquarters 60 days before the first day of the Issue month.
If you have an article on file at the PSA Journal office for a long time, it is possible we have just not had the space, or we needed to use other articles first to meet PSA guidelines, emphasize a theme, or balance the content. We will, however, return it upon your request.
We appreciate all of the PSA authors. Thank you for making your mark for the advancement of photography and helping others learn from your experience and expertise.
