Nature slide study group results - Nature - Brief Article

PSA Journal, May, 2003 by Marilyn Cloran

The winner of the 87th round of the Flowering Plant Slide Study Group #3 was Marilyn Gladitsch of Minnesota with "Marsh Marigolds #32." A second place tie occurred between Marilyn Gladitsch's image "Indian Paint Brush Group" and Marvin Harper's "Purple Dead Nettle." There are currently seven nature slide study groups in North America. They consist of six general nature groups and a flowering plant group. There is an eighth group (general nature) with members in both the US and UK. All of these groups provide members with a review of their work (which they don't get from the Exhibitions) and suggestions for improving their images. It is a good place to try slides out before entering them into exhibitions.

Each group has an outstanding exhibitor as a commentator who reviews the work of each member and makes general comments to improve that person's work. Each member also gives comments on all slides. This provides an opportunity for different points of view to be expressed and more than one technique to improve the work considered.

For those interested in becoming a group member or getting more information on the slide study groups contact the Director of Nature Slide Study Groups, Marvin Harper at mhharper2@cs.com or write to him at 58 Woodhaven Lane, Willingboro, New Jersey, 08046.
