PSA Journal, May, 2003 by Mark E. Fohl
NOTE: When submitting photos for the Journal, we request actual prints or slides, if possible, but should it be necessary to submit them via e-mail we request they be 300 dpi and approximately 4 inches in the maximum dimension.
The concept of an exhibition of prints from PSA Country Representatives was conceived in October of 2000 by Mr. Manfred Gsteu, FPSA, CR in Austria. He further developed the project with Mr. Fritz Shih, CR of Taiwan. Mr. Shih designed a letter of invitation, to be delivered to all PSA CRs. Eighty-four prints were collected from Country Representatives and members of PSA's International Affairs Committee. Thanks are extended to all who submitted their prints and to those who have worked on the project. The prints were first exhibited in the National Gallery of the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei in March of 2002, after the opening ceremony on March 22.
Later that year, Mr. Shih distributed a photo CD containing the prints to each of the CRs. All prints were published in Photo Taipei, the monthly publication of the Photographic Society of Taipei, during the months July to November of 2002. Each CR received a copy of the issue containing his or her prints.
The prints can be viewed on-line at Mr. Shih's personal website (http://netcity.hinet.net/fritzshi), at the website of IIWF, a German speaking photographers' organization (http:// www.iiwf.de), and at the Austrian web gallery (http:// www.netlink.at/enns/galerie.htm). In addition, the prints will be exhibited in Singapore by Mr. Tan Lip Seng, FPSA, in December, 2003, and again in Kyoto, Japan, by Mr. Takeshi Tokumasu in June of 2004. These same prints can be seen up close and personal at the PSA Conference in Houston this September. They will be presented by members of the International Affairs Committee. Hope to see you there!
The author wishes to thank Mr. Fritz Shih for providing the short history of the exhibition that was used as the basis of this article.
