PSA Journal, July, 2000
The Recorded Lecture Program welcomes submission of prospective programs by PSA members for review. Contact the RLP Chairman listed in the Services and Activities section of the Journal, which is published in the January, April, July and October issues.
* Seeing is Believing: This lecture is presented by an outstanding photographer, LaVerne Bovair, FPSA, who has great imagination and creative ideas. Specializing in tabletop photography, this lecture guides you step-by-step through the equipment and technique needed for creative close-up tabletop photos. A section on the "outdoor tabletop method" is included. Give your club members an insight into a new area of creativity by showing this program. Your club may wish to use this lecture as a springboard to a "hands-on" workshop! (No. 62 - 45 minutes)
* Focus on the Photogenic: Photographs that win awards have certain qualities that make the image "photogenic." Recognizing these qualities allows the photographer to capture the photogenic essence of any subject, whether it is scenic, nature, or portrait. The lecturer in this program, J. Allen Gannaway, FPSA, leads the viewer through the potentially photogenic qualities of a photo, and illustrates the ways to capture them. This program is filled with fine photographic examples to enhance the lecturer's important points. (No. 75 - 34 minutes)
* The Education of a Photographer: In this lecture, Max Perchick, FPSA, takes us through the growth of his photography from a beginner to his present ability as a successful International Salon exhibitor. He gives examples of techniques he has tried -- some with success and some with failure -- but all a learning experience that will help the viewer get a direction for their photographic growth. Many of the successful techniques discussed were published in the PSA Journal, and this can supplement the information in this recorded lecture. Max hopes to inspire photographers to try new ideas and find special areas of photography that can enhance their expertise. In addition to providing information for the experienced photographer, this lecture is especially good for beginners and new camera club members! (No. 87 - 30 minutes)
