Canada: Visit of Chinese Photographers - Brief Article

PSA Journal, August, 2001 by Kenneth Cheng

An esteemed group of 12 photographers from the Chinese Photographers Association (CPA), which is the counterpart of PSA in China, paid a visit to various parts of Canada from April 24 to May 9, 2001. This team, led by the Secretary General, Liu Bang, was comprised of many well-known photojournalists from provinces such as Xinjiang, Hebei Shaanxi, Gansu and Zhejiang. Many of them are publishers and chief editors of photographic magazines.

They conducted extensive programs of exhibitions, seminars and discussions with photo-clubs in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto. They did not miss the opportunity for sightseeing, visiting places like Banff (AB), Whistler (BC), Niagara Falls (ON), Ottawa and Montreal (PQ). Each of the members was given a CD (PSA's Best of Hong Kong & Macau) by the Asian Affairs Committee, along with brochures and other information introducing PSA.

Although this was their first visit to North America, they expressed their desire to reach out and were hoping to have more contact and photographic cultural exchange between the East and the West.
