Model Sessions--Jerome Hamilton

(Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Recommended film is 100 ISO for both indoor and outdoor (color and B&W) and 100 ISO setting on digital cameras. Lenses ranging from 50-110 mm focal length for 35 mm and 80-180 mm for medium format cameras are recommended. Electronic flash will be used indoors. You will need to provide your own flash cord, no longer than five feet. You may want to bring your camera manual for help or check with your local camera store for help with indoor lighting needed.

A "three shot and go to the end of the line format" will be followed. To spice up the workshop, Jerome will be adding a print competition.

Rules will be provided at the conference and prizes will be awarded after the judging of all entries received by October 1st.

Workshops

"Shoot 3D Today!"

(Wednesday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) Dorothy Mladenka

Add a new dimension to your photographs! In this hands-on workshop especially designed for photographers WITHOUT experience in shooting stereo, photographers will actually take 3D photographs using their own regular camera. Bring a roll of film (24 exp. prints or slides; ASA 100 or less suggested) or your digital camera. Expect to spend about $10.00 for standard mini-lab printing or E6 processing before departure from the conference.

"Retouching & Etching Color Prints"

(Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) Shirley Ward, APSA

Participants in this workshop will learn how to improve their color prints by removing distracting elements and intensifying colored areas. Bring several prints on which to work, prints which have very small distracting elements such as grasses, small light spots in backgrounds, or areas where more color is needed. Retouching oils will be provided. Shirley will also demonstrate a method of etching prints.

"Mylar--Flower Workshop"

(Thursday, 2:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.) Jerry Hixson, FPSA

This intriguing workshop will illustrate, how to use Mylar for different creative images. A Mylar tube on the lens or using Mylar for reflections are two of the uses.

"Monet--From the Rear!"

(Friday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) Robert R. Sonnen

This workshop will have you creating impressionist looking images of those not-so-exciting slides resting in your files by using rear projection photography, no computers needed! Bring your own slides, a camera, and a tripod.

"Polaroid Imaging"

(Friday, 2:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.) Mark Southard, APSA

Creating painterly images on Polaroid film and then transferring them to watercolor paper will be the object of this workshop. All the equipment and supplies will be provided. You need to bring only two or three slides.

"Solving Photoshop[R] Problems"

(Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Stanley Ashbrook, FPSA

This year's workshop will concentrate on showing Photoshop and Photoshop Elements solutions to common problems. The first half of the workshop will deal with Elements and the second half with Photoshop 7.0. If you are having a problem with correcting, enhancing, or figuring out just what to do with a photograph ... bring the image (sized to fit on a floppy disk) to the workshop and suggestions to help solve your problem will be provided. Those who don't care to bring an image can e-mail Stan about the problem and he will try and provide a solution at the workshop. stan@computerphoto.org

"Pittsburgh Revisited"

Joe Zaia, FPSA, will be putting this program together with slides taken by those of you who attended the Pittsburgh conference last year. Don't forget to bring those slides with you for Joe. They will be returned before you leave.

"The A, B, C's of Producing Videos"

(Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.) Dr. Christine Haycock, FPSA

This video workshop will provide an overview of current editing methods for video. Participants will also learn about the equipment available from the simple to the sophisticated.
