PSA Journal, August, 2005 by Betty Billingham
The Electronic Imaging Division (EID) is going to start an interclub EID competition commencing in the fall, soon after conference. Chairman of this new EID service is Bob Benson. Contact him at benson.bob@comcast.net as soon as possible to get the details. If you are going to conference in Salt Lake City, further details will be found at the EID table in the Division Center which opens on Wednesday evening.
No one will want to forget to visit the EID table where digitally produced images will be on display. Hopefully you have already sent some of your images in; but if not, take them to Salt Lake City with you. The more, the better the display!
Barbara Miller, FPSA, PPSA, will make available a list there for anyone wishing to join an EID Study Group. These are now expanding quickly due to the new template and easy hosting. Consider volunteering to be a host and thus enable another 6 PSA members to join such a group. It is a shortage of hosts which holds up further expansion. Barbara will fill you in with the details.
A question came up recently about club digital projectors, calibration and colors at international exhibitions. Prof. G.N. Smit has laid out an extremely informative yet easy to understand set of Standards and Guidelines which can be found at the site of the Photographic Society of Southern Africa at www.pssa.co.za/standards/ephoto/ main.html. He suggests getting the software used by each exhibition to see exactly how your image will appear before the judges. The website includes many lovely wild animal images in the site gallery.
Lastly, please remember the international exhibitions listed on the Exhibitions pages of the Journal (see pages 46-49). Read carefully the information and plan to enter EID exhibitions listed.
