Photo Antiquities offers history through the lens of a camera

PSA Journal, Sept, 2004

The Photo Antiquities Museum of Photographic History, located on the north side of Pittsburgh, displays 19th century photographs and vintage cameras of past centuries. Included are compelling images of Abraham Lincoln, Civil War soldiers, and Native Americans, besides photos of royalty mounted next to criminal mug shots. Displayed also are accessories such as monster-size cameras and early movie projectors. Visitors can learn about the many techniques of historic photographic processes, such as the art of hand painting glass lantern slides, dangers of early photographic methods, and the greatest photographers throughout history.
