A congressional race in Arkansas may give the old adage "don't blame the messenger" a new twist: don't blame the pollster - Who's Who - Brief Article

Washington Monthly, Oct, 2002 by Susan Threadgill

A congressional race in Arkansas may give the old adage "don't blame the messenger" a new twist: Don't blame the pollster. In the state's first district, an August poll by the respected firm Zogby International, headed by John Zogby, has Democratic incumbent Marion Berry up 63 percent to 21 percent over GOP challenger and former U.S.

congressman Tommy Robinson. But when Robinson heard the results of the poll, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, he didn't take it quietly. Referring to Zogby as "an Arab polling firm," he complained "I don't like an Arab running any poll that has to do with me because of my strong position on the war on terrorism." Zogby's father is of Lebanese ancestry; his brother dames Zogby heads the Washington, D.C.-based Arab American Institute.
