Golden Handcuffs - law student reconsiders career in public service - includes response
Washington Monthly, Nov, 1995 by Gibson Cromwell, Charles Peters
I wish I had done more to tell my friends how much pure fun I had in the government. Even playing a minor role in the truly great game is simply more exhilarating then getting a tax break for some scumbag. (See "Working for the Government is Cool," by Gareth Cook, page 38.)
So this is my message to you, and to anyone else out there like you: Save yourselves while there is still time. Do something that you believe in, that you like doing, and that, regardless of how it is esteemed by the world, you will be proud of.
Gibson Cromwell is a pseudonym for a third year student at one of the nation's top law schools.
