War party?

Washington Monthly, Jan-Feb, 2003 by Donald W. Zimmer

Heather Hurlburt ("War Torn," November) sounds like one of the few Democrats who actually respect the US. military. Unfortunately, her view is shared by too few in the party. Leaders like FDR, Harry Truman, JFK, and Scoop Jackson--Democrats who were liberal in the classic sense of that word, viewed the military with affection, and had respect for the men and women of our armed services--are long gone from the Democratic Party.

They have been replaced by liberals who are shockingly dismissive of men and women in uniform. I should know--I was on the receiving end of many of their barbs during my 21 years of military service.
