Fabio fights back - Letters - Letter to the Editor
Washington Monthly, April, 2002 by Jenn Carpman
Katherine Marsh's article, "Fabio Gets His Walking Papers" (January/February 2002), has me seeing red! I doubt the writer's ever read a Harlequin book. I have. I own over 200 of them. I have been collecting them for over 10 years. And guess what? I'm not middle-aged, married, or divorced. I'm 24 and dating. Had Ms. Marsh spent a half-hour on Harlequin's website (www.eharlequin.com) she would have found herself a message board setup with over 2,000 members, at least half of which are under 30.
Romances are a treasure. They lift our spirits and remind us that sometimes things do work out in the end. They give us hope. Just like a book is supposed to. Just like one day I hope mine will. Until then I am thankful that there are so many wonderful romance writers out there, and hundreds more in progress, keeping those bookshelves packed so I have something to read while I wait.
