Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, March, 2001

High school students is suburban Seattle are getting a new grade on their report cards: an "employability profile" that assesses the likelihood that a students will be successful in the workplace. Teachers grade students on such characteristics as punctuality, attendance, teamwork and pride in their work. Students who achieve an average of 4 or 5 on five-point scale earn a "hire me first" card they can present to potential employers during job interviews.

Kentwood High School principal Dough Hostetter says the grade not only helps area business but could also improve a student's academic performance. "Often the cause of poor grades is work ethic, not intellect."
