Better Deals for Single Travelers - traveling alone now more affordable

Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, April, 1999 by Lynn Woods

Elderhostel (877-426-8056; www.elderhostel.org), serving travelers age 55 and older, offers thousands of affordable educational trips around the world. A 12-night birding trip to Costa Rica, for example, departing next fall and winter, costs $1,900, including airfare, accommodations in hotels and lodges, bus transportation and meals.

The lineup also includes intergenerational trips, outdoor expeditions and programs with an arts-and-crafts orientation. Elderhostel offers a roommate-matching service.
