Performing Arts & Entertainment in Canada, Summer, 2000

Fifteen co-operating societies engaged in musical research and the teaching of music in U.S. and Canadian colleges and universities will hold their first-ever joint meeting in Toronto from November 1 to 5. Entitled "Toronto 2000: Musical Intersections", the conference will bring together more than 3,000 registrants from participating societies, including the American Musical Instrument Society, the American Musicological Society, the Society for Ethnomusicology, the Canadian University Music Society, the Canadian Society for Traditional Music, the Historic Brass Society and the International Association for the Study of Popular Music.

Each society will offer its own independent program, with its sessions open to all registrants. There will be joint sessions, workshops and concerts featuring classical, jazz, popular and non-western musics.
