Performing Arts & Entertainment in Canada, Summer, 2000
On May 15, six playwrights and seven artists in various other disciplines were awarded $25,000 to assist them in pursuing further creative work through the outstanding generosity of the family of arts patron Joan Chalmers. The winners included Evelyn Hart, Piano Six, W.R. (Bob) McFee of the Calgary Opera Association, Urjo Kareda of Tarragon Theatre and filmmaker Patricio Henriquez.
The Floyd S. Chalmers Canadian Play Awards went to Linda Griffiths, Michel Tremblay, Ronnie Burkett and Michael Healey. The Awards for Theatre for Young Audiences went to Gail Nyoka and Leslie Arden. The ceremonies were dedicated to the memory of Mira Friedlander.
