Singer Ashanti featured in EBONY's Annual March Women's Issue

During the month of March EBONY takes time out to salute-Sisters across the nation who are at the top of their game in world of entertainment, politics and corporate in the Annual Women's Issue.

At 22 singer/songwriter Ashanti Douglas, known to millions of her fans as simply Ashanti, has captured the attention of the music industry with her chart-topping, self-titled debut CD within the first week of its release.

In the cover story "Ashanti Takes Charge On Her Way To Stardom," the New York native sheds light on her career and the ups and that go along with fame. "It took me nine years to get where I am," says the princess of hip-hop soul. "This was not an overnight thing. It took a lot of work."

The March issue also profiles Justice Leah Ward Sears, WNBA star Sheryl Swoopes, Music Conductor Jeri Lynne Johnson and others in "Sisters In The Spotlight: 9 Special Women Who Are Making News, Making History & Making Their Own Statements."
