Jet, March 8, 2004
Robert E. Johnson was recently chosen as vice president of enrollment management at the University of Dayton. He is the first Black to hold the position in the institution's 153-year history.
Previously, Johnson, 44, served as executive director of marketing and enrollment management at Central State University for nine years. He replaces Chris Munoz, and will oversee the admission, financial aid and scholarships, and marketing and registration.
Johnson, described by the university's search committee as a "strategic thinker who dreams big and who is both creative and innovative," holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Morehouse College, a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati and did his doctoral work at Ohio State University.
Johnson said that his wife, Michelle, and their two children, Jasmine, 10, and Alexander, 8, are looking forward to their new journey.
The University of Dayton, which enrolls more than 10,000 undergraduates, graduate and part-time students, is Ohio's largest private university and ranks among the top 10 national Catholic colleges and universities in the country.
