When the U.S. Patent Office awarded the 500,000th design patent to Damler Chrysler Corporation for the design of the Chrysler Crossfire, Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) announced the record in the House. "I am proud," he said, "because I represent Detroit, the auto capital of the world."
