Jet, August 3, 1998
Prosecutors in Los Angeles recently dropped sexual battery charges against singer Bobby Brown.
Victoria Pipkin, a spokesperson for the District Attorney's office, told reporters: "It's my understanding it's due to insufficient evidence."
Brown was arrested June 21 for investigation of sexual battery stemming from an incident at the pool of the posh Beverly Hills Hotel. Beverly Hills officials have not released specifics on the case. However, the Associated Press reported that Brown reportedly was accused of slapping a teenager on the behind.
Brown, an original member of New Edition and husband of Whitney Houston, maintained his innocence all along.
