Larry D. Thompson named general counsel for PepsiCo

PepsiCo, one of the world's largest food and beverage companies, has announced that Larry D. Thompson will assume the role of senior vice president and general counsel for the corporation.

He replaces David R. Andrews.

Thompson, 58, will have responsibility for PepsiCo's worldwide leg function, as well as its government affairs organization and the company's charitable foundation.

"Larry Thompson brings an impressive array of legal and leadership skills and experience to PepsiCo," said CEO Shaven S. Reinemund.

Thompson's government care includes serving in the U.S. Department of Justice as Deputy Attorney General where he supervised overall operations. Thompson was also head of the Corporate Fraud Task Force, which was responsible for corporate fraud investigations. Thompson led the Justice Department's Thompson ongoing Enron investigations.

He joins PepsiCo from the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., where he is a senior fellow.

A visiting professor of law at the University of Georgia, Thompson earned a law degree from the University of Michigan, a master's degree from Michigan State University, and a bachelor's degree from Culver-Stockton College.
