The state ACLU recently filed a civil rights suit charging that two Manalapan, NJ, police officers detained and searched Yorker, 17, Anderson, 12, and Reina, 18, on a street in June of last year, while telling three White youths who were with them to go home. The suit, filed in state Superior Court, seeks anti-bias training and supervision for the department, as well as compensatory damages for the youths. The suit charges the officers violated the youths' rights under the state constitution and the state Law Against Discrimination.
